Gone Fishin

OK, not really, but we are going on vacation for a week so I won't be posting till after the 4th of July. I will leave you with a cautionary fishing picture. Back a few years ago I was trying to put together a black and white book of Mermen. It never got finished but I did do several merman pictures that I really loved. This is one of my more punny titled pictures from that project.

"Be Careful What You Fish For", 8 1/2 x 11 ink on Bristol paper.

I'm Not Cheeting

As usual, when I have something I should be doing art wise, I can't seem to make it come out but I get all kinds of OTHER pictures wanting to be done. This was something I did just to let my Muse play (in hopes he would let me get to the picture I am supposed to be doing). Done on yellow/gold scrap booking card stock. It's not quite 10 1/2 x 10 1/2, Acrylic, watercolor colored pencil and Pro White. "King Cheetah" (picture 38 for the year)

Coming Soon (I hope)

Well, we just sent payment for my second color book, "Animalia" which is anthropomorphic men/animals. My first color book "Mythic Men" was printed by a company that closed that part of the company so I only had the one run and am now out of them. "Animalia" is being done by a new online print company (if they work out I will plug them by name). I hope we get the books before we go on vacation. This is the cover for the new book.

Colorful Fairy Stuff Darkend

I posted "Little Leaf Rider" a while back with his "bubble gum" background that I was not happy with. I didn't get much response to it but I have had people agree the background needed changed so, here is the NEW version. Much darker but more in keeping with the feel I wanted originally. 8 1/2 x 11 on illustration board, Acrylic, Prisma colors, watercolor colored pencil.

Different Egyptian Gods

Akira Shima also known as Theddy wanted to see me do a picture of Nefertem. He is the Egyptian God of the Sunrise and Perfume, the blue lotus is his symbol. His mother (in one story) is Sekhmet (the other Cat Goddess). He was most often shown as a beautiful boy, seems like my kinda god...but Theddy wanted the Lion headed version (rare but not unusual). I got a great elongated octagonal frame and it just seemed right for doing this picture for (that is why it has an odd shape).

The gold in the corners is filler and not part of the actual picture. "The Light of Nefertem", 14 x 19, Acrylic, watercolor colored pencil and Pro White on Canson board. 37

Portrait of a Follower

Actually this is the alter ego/fursona/avatar of Theddy also known as Akira Shima. I tried to do a picture of him once before and it was not quite right but this is based on more clear description from him. "Akira Shima name badge", 3 x 5, Acrylic, watercolor colored pencil and Pro White on Canson board. Picture 36

Blue and Black

Keeping with the theme...I bought a pad of colored card stock from Michael's (I think it was for "scrap booking") and it has 3 pages of each color, all nice and usable. This is a doodle, an experiment, just playing really. I love the dark blue and was happy with how this came out. Done on the diamond (the black around it is filler and not part of the art), in Prisma Colors and Acrylic. "Call of the Ocean" 12 x 12. Picture 35

Black and Blue

Near the end of last year I did this on some great black paper I found. I love working on black and have done a few others with a black background as the starting point. This is a multi layered combination of Prisma color and Acrylic. "Flaming Rose", 8 1/2 x 11.

Experiment continued

Well I did not get allot of feedback on this but I ended up deciding to just add a small amount of white naturalistic markings to him and not anything "man made" or strong. "Anthro Peryton" with white markings variation.

Something Fishy Again

I did this as a line drawing and then hand colored prints of it. This was printed on a light blue card stock. The circle behind the Hypocampus was blank in the drawing and I could put whatever I wanted in it when I painted the prints. This one was filled with the inside of a wave, based on a great photo I have. The Hypocampus itself is based on a couple different actual carousel horses. "Hypocampus Carosel" 8 1/2 x 11, Acrylic on card stock print.

Experimental Web

I did a picture and posted it on FurAfinity in hopes of getting some input, feedback, suggestions etc. Well, I have gotten a couple but not much. SO, I am going to post it here with the same idea...

This is an anthropomorphic Peryton (a Peryton is a mythical/heraldic creature that is part deer part bird/eagle?). There are people on FurAfinity that do this creature very well and very elegantly. Mine is interesting but I feel he may need more. So the experiment is to get your ideas as to what I might add to this (if anything). I had originally thought I would put natural animal markings on him (stripes, spots or something). Now I am thinking Celtic knotwork or spirals or some other design markings on him might be nice. So what do you all think?? I may or may not add anything to it, but I won't know till I get some ideas from others. Picture 34

Unknown Followers

OK, I know the majority of those following my Weble but there are 2 I am not sure of. SammyKhoo and Rhapsody the Bard, please introduce yourselves (I like to have some clue how you found me, know me or whatever). I think I know who the Bard is, but I want clarification. IF for some reason either of you don't feel comfortable telling me who you are or how you found my Weble, it's OK. I just like to know my audience :).

Thank you all for being followers of my Weble and for those who comment, thanks even more!

More Tattooed pictures

I am not sure what makes people like some pictures and not others. I loved how this came out and the details etc were all done right in my opinion. But no one has bought this or even shown much interest in it. If I was able to get a tattoo, I would love the one on his arm. The flames just look real cool to me. "Crystal Illuminati" about 11 x 17 , Acrylic, ink and watercolor colored pencil on illustration board.

Fickle Finger of Furries

Well, it looks like my great response from posting on FurAfinity was just me being the "flavor of the month". I know how things are and that people have better things to do than post comments on Websites, Webles, LJs etc. But I guess my personality needs to have some response or I feel posting things is pointless. I mean the Internet has MORE than enough crap on it and I don't need to add to that.

I don't think I posted this already (hope not). I was happy with this and enjoyed doing it but so far it hasn't sold. "Silverhair", 6 x 11 (I think, being to lazy to go measure it), Acrylic and watercolor colored pencil on Canson board. Done in 2006.

Egyptian Versus Greek

I have long been a fan of the Egyptians and their many Gods (Jewish captivity and 10 commandments aside). Anubis has been one of my top favorites and until 2007 I did not know (as I have discovered many didn't) that I was using the wrong name. Anubis, is the Greek name of an Egyptian God. Anpu is one of the more correct names for this God (there are about 3 possible names better and more accurate than Anubis, but I like Anpu best).

Most representations of Anubis/Anupu are really a priest in a mask, acting as the God. Here I did Anpu as himself NOT as someone in a mask. The hieroglyphics are real and are part of the summoning or inviting Anpu to come and judge the dead. In Egyptian tombs, they would have a fake or painted door for him to come through. That is what this picture shows.

I think it was about 8 1/2 x 11 , Acrylic and watercolor colored pencil on Canson board. "Anpu Rising"

2 or 3 days with no comments makes me wonder if everyone gave up or git tired of looking at my stuff?

Even Stranger Things

OK, my last post had a name badge I did for someone on FurAfinity. Turns out, I got it slightly wrong! So here is the correct picture of the character "Kemthis". He is very complex and I am just happy I got the details right and the guy who created him says I did it correct this time. 3 x 5 Acrylic and Prisma color on red board. Picture 33.
