Collaboration of Sorts Two

Hibbary http://www.furaffinity.net/user/hibbary/  did the great drawing on the left and allowed me to color it...well, in this case I sorta went off in my own direction. The original drawing had nothing to indicate the theme I came up with. But I really like how it came out. The concept of this was inspired by Medieval works. the background was inspired by illuminations from a 15th century book of hours. "Knight of Hearts", 8 1/2 x 11, Acrylic, Copic and Micron marker on print.  59

Collaboration of Sorts

On FurAffinity there is a wonderful artist called Hibbary, http://www.furaffinity.net/user/hibbary/ she (I am pretty sure it's a she) allowed me to color some of her work and this is the first. I have no name for this picture yet, the original and prints are for sale. I printed out the drawing and added the background and color. The black in the background is done with copic marker, the rest of the color is Acrylic. * 1/2 x 11, Acrylic and copic marker on photoprint paper. 57

Cage Fight 2

Well I finally finished the second cage fighters picture commission. I am fairly happy with it and unless the person who commissioned it wants changes, it's done! "Cage Fighters 2", 8 1/2 x 11, Acrylic on Canson board. Prints available. Picture 56.
The next picture will most likely be a collaboration of sorts. I have permission from one of the artists I like on FurAffinity to finish/color some of their sketches. So the next pic I hope to post will be one of these.

New 20 Year Old Picture

It seems odd to put a 2010 copyright on this since I started it maybe 20 years ago. Some time back I think I posted the name badge I did for my husband with his face and a wolf head. That was at least 20 years ago I am sure that I did that picture. Well, this picture was the first attempt but didn't look like him and the wolf looked to dog like, so I stoped working on it. Recently while cleaning out an old box I found the maybe half done picture that I had not thrown out and decided I liked it enough to finish it. So here is "Companions", 3 x 4, Acrylic and copic marker on watercolor paper. Even though it was started along time ago, it is now picture 55 done this year. Original for sale!

Substitute Art

I am working on several things at once and one of them is the new book "Faerie Dust". Looking for art for it I found a bad photo of a picture I did in 2000. I really like the picture but the photo quality is just not good enough to use.
Since I have a black and white line scan of this picture done before color was added to the original, I decided to do a hand colored print. I printed the black and white line work picture out and then painted that print. So here is "Oberon's Guard", 8 1/2 x 11 hand colored print, Acrylic on cardstock. I hope to have the finished Cage Fighters sequel and maybe another small picture done very soon.

Sea & Sky

(I hope I didn;t post this already)
A few years ago on a panel at a Con we asked what people wanted to see, they said more male male affection (not porn or sex but affection). So I did this up quickly and lo and behold, it sold as fast as it was up. Roughly 4 x 10 on mottled matt board scrap. Prisma color and Acrylic.
Inspired by the old saying "A bird and a fish may fall in love, but where would they live?"

Dragon Rider Boy

I may have posted the black and white version of this but I have this color version and wanted to put it up. Simple coloring but I think it works. This is a character I created for the Dragonriders of Pern fan club. "V'tor & Sparks", 8 1/2 x 11 print colored with Acrylic and watercolor colored pencil.

Dark Old Boy

Gee coming up with a header to try and catch your attention is getting harder. I don't want to say "Here is another Old Picture". Anyway, this was done in 1997, it is white prisma color on black paper. I really love how these look and they are fun to do. This one appeared in my out of print "Darkness & Light" book. "Little Devil", 8 x 10. Prints available.

Lost Follower

Well, I recently received an email ripping apart the study for the cage fighters and the African child pictures. I suspect that that is who has drooped off as a follower of my Weble.

If I do a couple of pictures you don't like or don't think is my best work it should be no surprise. I can not please everyone all the time and I know everyone has different tastes. Comments here are helpful when they are constructive! Just saying you like something is OK, but doesn't guide me as an artist. Comments that you don't like something are helpful IF you give me constructive criticism! Tell me specifically why you don't like the picture or what you think I could have done better. Insults and questioning if I have "lost it" are NOT helpful in any way.

So, if you follow this Weble, you should already know the work varies and changes and will continue to do so. Thank you to those who have commented and those who continue to look at my work here.

Book Cover Help Again

OK, I plan to do a Faerie book soon and these are the two cover ideas I currently have. The "Faerie Drummer" was the first idea but now I like "Dew Drop". I know the lettering does not stand out allot on either of them, but besides that, what do you think of each?

Old Rough and Small

I was cleaning out some boxes and came across this very small, old sketch. It was torn almost in half and so the original will be thrown away. But I now have this nice scan of it so it is not lost forever.  It is an old, very rare just off the top of my head sketch. I don't have many of these anymore so I wanted to keep a record of this and share it. "Squatting Elf", 3 1/2 x 4 1/3, black ball point pen on scrap paper.

Muse Treat Again

I am working on the Cage Fighters but it is going slow, so I did this quick little picture in hopes of freeing up my muse and getting me going on what I have to do! "African Child Study", 6 x 6, Acrylic, watercolor colored pencil, Copic marker, Micron marker on Bristol. Original for sale. Picture 54.

Very Cool Stuff

http://johnkenn.blogspot.com/?ref=nf
A friend posted this link on Facebook with the quote; ‎"It's as if Maurice Sendak and Edward Gorey had a baby, and all that baby did was read Lovecraft." And I could not have said it better myself!

Step One (new picture)

OK, I am finally getting something done on the commission. This is the second step really (the first being the sketch). This is a follow up to the cage fighting picture I did. So far just gray scale and white on Canson board, 8 1/2 x 11.

New Art, sorta

OK, my muse is still being a brat and I am not getting anything done I need done. But since Vicki Wyman, a friend and fellow artist gave me some pencil drawings to ink and color, I have at least done one of those. This is not a great scan and I may end up taking a picture of this to get a better one to post later. The circle in the background is not right because I had to scan it in two parts and it just did not got back together right. The colors are also not as nice as the actual picture, but I wanted to get something up since I have something new after so long!  "Bounty of the Sea", 11 x 14, Acrylic, watercolor colored pencil, Micron marker, Copic marker, and Pro White. Picture 53.

Young Old Stuff

I hope I haven't posted this yet. I don't recall what inspired him but I love him. This is "Bat Boy in a Birch Tree", marker on Bristol (I think), 8 1/2 x 11. Not the best title, but it is what it is. I just love his face and the wings. His hands are not the best, but oh well, this is from 1992. As always, prints available.

Launching New Weble

http://magicmirroronline.blogspot.com/

My followers and friends may want to check this out once it is more off the ground!

Banner Project

My shop at Pennsic is going through some changes and to decorate the outside, I have decided to have large banners of art by each artist who sells in the shop done. These will feature art by one artist and will have their name on it. The first 2 are by myself and Christine Hutson (Mistress Kris Gilibari in the SCA). Here they are they are 4 x 2.5 feet on vinyl.

Vampyre Song 2

This is one I still love and would love to see someone like "We Are The Fallen" do !
