Bad Pun

I love puns and visual puns are hard to do but fun. So back in 1998 I had this idea and did a picture based on it. Hope you like the terrible pun/idea. "Searching for Moth Balls", Micron marker on Bristol, don't recall the size but I am sure it was about 8 1'2 high. Prints available.

Cat WIP Next Step

I wanted to post this yesterday but had technical problems. This is the finished underpainting for "Bast". The next step, which is already well underway, is color. Hope to have the whole thing finished sometime this weekend.

Gay Marraige in Maryland

Sure, right! Ain't gona happen even thought they are making noise like it could. Even if they should pass a bill, they are already preparing to put it in a referendum for the straight majority to vote on...every time, EVERY TIME that has happened Gay marriage has been denied! So I have no hope that I might actually have the same rights as straight people any time in my LIFE!

Cat WIP

I almost called it pussy WIPped but that would have been rude! Since I like to try and post something at least every other day, I am posting this work in progress. The picture is not great, digital camera, not real squared etc. But this is a 16 x 20 picture of the Egyptian Goddess Bast. I am struggling with the background (they always seem to be the part that takes me the longest time and the most work). I am wanting it to look a bit like the works of Alma-Tadema (love his stuff). Anyway, here is the beginnings of the new picture "Bast".

Name This Picture/ Name Picked

OK, I have no idea what to call this picture. It was done as a free form piece, no theme, no restrictions , no requirements. Just anything that seems good to me, I did. 8 x 20, Acrylic, watercolor colored pencil on Canson board.  This is bad scan, once I have a name for it and a better scan both the original and prints will be available. Picture 4.
(Thank you to all those who gave me name ideas, I have decided to call this "Windershines".)

I love Alan Parsons and this song from "Try Anything Once" is one of their best in my opinion!

Old Bat

More old art. This was the first picture I did for the year 1991. It was inspired by a Kimono I had that was orange with bats all over it and a few other things. The picture was done on a triangular piece of  illustration board. "Bat Robe", (not sure of the size, maybe 6 inches on each side), Acrylic and watercolor colored pencil on illustration board. Prints available.

Eh Art

Since my friend Han...er Pyracantha, was complaining cause I had not posted any art in a while I looked through old stuff and found something I don't think I have posted before. Clearly influenced by ElfQuest, this is far from my best work. It has some parts I like but overall, it's mediocre at best. "Elf Boy with Sword", 5 x 8, marker, Acrylic and watercolor colored pencil on brown board.

This Is Not A Test

Younger readers of this Weble or those not in the US might not understand just how good this song is. It takes something I grew up with and was usually annoyed with, and turned it into a very good song!

On a More Positive Note

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yfoLDtn4XKM&NR=1

I was looking for other songs by Ambrosia (Mama Frog, and Drink of Water), but can't find anything but live versions, when I found this lovely video and good sound version of another great song by them most have never heard.

Book Cover Bingo

I was contacted by someone I did not know and ask if I would like to do a cover for their book. The concept for the picture seemed good and I think I could do a great picture for them. Then I get an email saying they are looking at various artists for it...Well now I get an email saying they are using a photo for the cover. It really does not make sense to me to use a photo, but they think it will be cheaper and whatever.

I am considering making a no book cover policy. I have done several in the past, but the last 2 I have been approached to do have not worked out. The first, I did allot of work on, had an agreement and then after a year was told, they were not going to use my cover or pay what was agreed. Now this one...it makes me think people who contact me about covers are just screwing with me and not serious.

YoYo Followers

OK, I have had 76 followers then 75, then 76 now 75 again...strange!

Best Song You Never Heard

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KAZCCFKa-vQ&feature=related

This is a song by Tommy Shaw (of Styx) from his "7 Deadly Zens" CD. I think it is a great song and has so much emotion, but I bet none of you have ever heard it!

Decorative Art

Now that I have the commission stuff done I wanted to do something that had no story, no plan, no meaning. Something that was just pretty to look at and fun to do, so I did this. It is part Mucha, part Faerie, part whatever came to mind. "Night Bloomer", 12 x 15, Acrylic, watercolor colored pencil, Prisma Color, ProWhite on Canson board. Original and prints for sale. (This is a bad scan, I will get a better one once the weather gets a little warmer.) Picture 3.

2011 Second Picture

OK, this is finally the 4th part of the 4 commissions I started last year. I like allot of this picture but the line of shoes/audience along the top edge is just not what I had hoped. It is as good as I can do it at this time, so it is done! "Pool Fight", 8 1/2 x 11, Acrylic and watercolor colored pencil on Canson board. Prints available. 2

Old Gods

Well, I need to post something and this is very old, but I don't think I have posted it before. This is from the late 80's. "Horned God", I think the original was 8 1/2 x 9, Acrylic on colored board. Prints available.

Finally

I am finally getting around to the last of the 4 commission pictures. This is a ultimate/cage fighter type thing but held in a mostly empty pool. Figures are grey scaled and I think I know what I am doing for the background. Waiting for the OK from the person who commissioned it before I go to the next step. There will be blood in this one I am pretty sure.

Catty Cover

I hope I didn't post this already. This is the cover for a "Cat Erotica" book that was published by Circlet Press back in the 90's. I did 4 different cover ideas for this and this is the one they picked. "Cat's Caress", 5 1/2 x 5 1/2 (more or less), Marker on Bristol. Prints available.

Starting Off

So, here is my first picture of 2011. It was started a while back and sat for a few weeks but I did a lot of work on it today and finished it, so it is the first for the year. A rare female from me, I like her, but she does not look happy! "Dryad", 8 1/2 x 11, Acrylic, Prisma Colors  on Canson board. Original and prints for sale. 1
