Inktober 30

This was just a quick white pen sketch that I thought would be good for Inktober and would also be a nice experiment working on the black again. "Minotaur Head", 6 x 6 1/2, white gel pen on black board. Original and prints available. Picture 62.

Inktober 29

This took longer than I expected and while I like it and will use it as one of my Inktober pictures, it is not as much ink as I had hoped it would be. Photo reference was used (as is almost always the case to some degree with all my work). I love working on black and this has a great feel I think. "Spirit of the Night Woods", 6 1/2 x 10 1/2, White pen, white Prisma Color and Acrylic on black board. Original and prints available. Picture 61.

Inktober 27

Todays entry for Inktober is just the start. I plan to paint this so color will be added soon, but I wanted to show the ink part before adding color. "Woof", 6 x 9, Micron pen on grey toned paper. Picture 59.

Inktober 26

This was inspired by an actual lamp that someone found posted on the Internet, it is very cool but apparently a one of a kind hand made item. This is a variation on the lamp, "Bat Light", 6 x 7 1/4, Micron pen and white pen on grey toned paper. SOLD, prints available. Picture 58.

Inktober 25

This was an experiment, since I now have a cheap and an expensive white pen (the expensive one is an Acrylic paint marker), I decided to try a picture done mostly in white. There are parts I like but overall I am not happy with the outcome. Maybe it is just because it is not very Japanese looking. Oh well, this is "Cloud Dragon", 6 x 9, white gel pen and Acrylic paint marker, Micron pen on grey toned paper. Original and prints available. Picture 57.

New and Improved Inktober 23

Death Bird, the picture I did as my 23rd Inktober picture was nice, I liked it, but it was missing something. So I finally got a white pen and have made some slight improvements to it (at least I think it is better this way). Inktober 23 "Death Bird" now with highlights.

Inktober 24

I used to be known for my stippling, I enjoyed the subtleness and easy of reproduction of the black and white. I could spend hours more refining this but I need to move on. This is also my first use of a white pen, so far I like how it looks. I considered adding a background but I think it might be best as is. Photo reference was used. "Big Beautiful Black Booty", 9 x 6. Micron pen and white gel pen on grey toned paper. Original and prints available. Picture 56.

Inktober 22

This was inspired by a comic called Sky Doll, not that this picture is anything at all like anything from it, but looking at one of the covers is what sparked this idea. Odd but fun, "Little Black Bird", 6 x 9, Micron and Copic markers on grey toned paper. Original and prints available. Picture 54.

Inktober 21

Inspired by an "action figure" that comes from some game or other, this is some strange satyr creature (the figure it is inspired by is not a satyr). "Strange Satyr", 9 x 6, Micron pen and Copic markers on grey toned paper. Original and prints available. Picture 53.

Inktober 20

This one is inspired by a Poster for Faust by Louis Galice circa 1900. "Faust", 6 x 9, Micron pen, Acrylic and ProWhite on grey toned paper. Original and prints available. Picture 52.

Inktober Art for Sale

Since I am doing one picture for each day in October I think I should put them up for sale .I am thinking of making them $10 each, that would be matted and framed. Most are small (no larger than 6 x 9 in most cases). There will be a few exceptions to the $10 price, Inktober 6 and 10 so far will not be for sale for $10. Since 10 (the line art for Kitsuna with Lotus) is larger and full colored it is more. 6 (BioRam) is more complex and is $20. This does not include shipping.
If you would like one of my Inktober pictures message me and we will work out payment, etc.

Inktober 19

I hope this is the last of this style, I need to do other things. Inktober 19 is "Android Maintenance", 6 x 9, Micron pen and Pro White on grey toned paper. Original and prints available. Picture 51.

Inktober 16

This is what for me is truly "old school", I have not done this style since 1992. I enjoyed it and like how this came out . I did consider adding a bit of color or white, but wanted to upload it as is for now. "Android 2", 6 x 9, Micron pen on grey toned paper. Original and prints available. Picture 48.

Inktober 10

Inktober 9

Finally caught up, though I don't think much of this one. I used a photo reference but still failed to capture the look of a Raven. Oh well, "Bad Raven Study", 8 x 5, Micron pen (with a tiny bit of ProWhite) on grey toned paper. Picture 41.

Inktober 8

I have no idea who, what or where he is, but he is interesting. Almost caught up with the Inktober pictures. Not sure about the title, but for now I am calling this "Stranger in a Strange Land". It is 6 x 9, Micron markers and white PrismaColor on grey toned paper. Original and prints available. Picture 40.

Inktober 7

This one was quick and small, 4 1/2 x 6. I think it would work well as a tattoo, maybe with a color in the circle. "Leaping Koi" Micron pen on grey toned paper. Original and prints available. Picture 39.

Inktober 6

This one was a bit more involved, inspired by some amazing biomechanical animal sculptures. Still behind on my pictures for the month but here is "BioRam", 6 x 9, Micron pens and white PrismaColor on grey tones paper. Original SOLD, prints available. Picture 38.

Inktober 5

Still trying to catch up, this is my 5th picture for Inktober. Smaller than the others but since I have 2 more to do to catch up so I am trying to do a few smaller more simple pictures. This was inspired by the work of another artist. "Fire Cat" done on 6 x 9 grey toned paper but cropped down to about 4 1/2 x 5,  red and black Micron pens with just a tiny bit of ProWhite. Original and prints available. Picture 37.

Inktober 4

My fourth entry for Inktober, Not perfect but interesting. Got new markers so I have fresh ink and can do larger black areas easier. "Elf Tattoos", 6 x 9 , black and red Micron pens on grey tones paper. Original and prints available. Picture 36.

Inktober 3

Trying to catch up with doing a drawing a day for the month of October, I have to do 2 more to be caught up. Inspired by art by some others using a somewhat Eastern art style this is what I came up with. "Fire Wolf", 9 x 6, Micron pens on grey toned paper. Original SOLD, prints available. Picture 35.

Ghost of Freddie

Someone posted this on Facebook and I was very skeptical about it's claims. I did get goosebumps when I here him sing like Freddie. I am a HUGE Queen fan and Freddie had a unique and amazing voice, this guy channels him!

Inktober 2

Here is my second picture for Inktober, this one fits the criteria better than my first. "Wolf Skull and Leaves", 9 x 6, ball point pen and white Prism Color on grey toned paper. Original SOLD, prints for sale. Picture 34.

Inktober?

OK, on Weasyl (an art site I am on) several of the artists I watch are doing Inktober  http://mrjakeparker.com/inktober It is a cool idea and I need to get myself inspired/working on something, so I am trying my hand at this. I plan to do one for each day, so I have 4 to do to catch up. But of course I started stupid...I decided to do a drawing on blue matboard with lots of large areas of black...then I discovered none of my markers were in any shape to do that, so I would have used a brush and India ink...but I don't have any India ink! SO, I drew the figure with a Misrcon pen and painted in the black with Acrylic...technically NOT ink, but it was what I could do. Then I discover I picked a size my scanner can't do and that photos have "issues" with the marker on the blue, so here is a so so, pieced together, sort of inked picture for Inktober. Oh, and the anatomy is not good...oh well. "Darkling", 10 x 11 Marker and Acrylic on matboard. Original and prints (if I can ever get a good version to do them from) available. Picture 33.

Tiny Old Art

This is a scan of a print so it is not as good as I had hoped but it is all I have of this picture. I am not sure how large the original was but I suspect it was pretty small, maybe 9 x 2 or smaller. This was done in 1996. "Sea Green", marker and Acrylic on illustration board. Prints available.

Old Alien Pair

Back in 1995 I was asked to do some art for a possible new card game, unfortunately they ended up not doing the game so I never sold the art to them. I still have one of these as yet unsold.  I am not sure about the original size of these (I am just to lazy to go measure the one I still have) but I think they are both about 7 xx7. "Alien Exploring new Planet" and "Alien Pilot", both are Acrylic and Prisma Color on Canson board (I think). Prints available.

Old Art

This was done many years ago, in the 80's I suspect. It was done originally as a cover for our local SCA shires newsletter cover. The design is based on Parade armor from the 1500's. I wanted to have a helm made like that...but it was never to be. I had to use photoshop to darken the black back to how it was since it has faded over the years. The Arm on the shield (as much as uyou can see) are mine. "Merman Knight" marker, white Acrylic on Canson paper, 5 1/2 x 8. Original and prints available.

Sorry I have not posted much lately.

Life has become even more complex than normal and so I have been unable to do any work. While clearing out the unfinished part of our basement so that we can turn it into mu sons room, I hurt my back and am in a lot of pain.
We still have a lot of work to do and now his girlfriend is moving down to be with him so we have another person who will be living with us.
Stress and pain and everything being a mess because we are trying to rearrange and find someplace to put a lot of stuff that can't stay in the basement means I can't really get to my drawing area. I have several commissions I am already behind on, but I have no idea when I will be able to get to them.
