My Boy and His Boy

I can't explain how glad I am to know my son is happy and well. His son is so cute and Joe looks so happy with him, I know he will be a great dad! Here is another picture of Joe and Logan.

Good Con and Good News

Darkover Con, which I have attended for over 20 years has not been very good sales wise in the past several years. This year I did fairly well in the art show, sold several books and calendars as well. This was the best Darkover sales I have had in many years!

The other good news is my son, who has been unreachable for the past 7 years has surfaced! He contacted his mother (has not contacted us yet) but knowing he is alive and well is great! I also am now a grandfather! He has a 6 month old son named Logan!
I just hope someday I get to meet him and that Joe lets us back in his life!

Keening For the Dragonlady

http://www.facebook.com/l.php?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.mediabistro.com%2Fgalleycat%2Fanne-mccaffrey-has-died_b42826&h=NAQEcmgfIAQFunN25SJUFjKPZQjPWopb9KSO9rFgx-y7Lkg

Anne McCaffrey has died! She was one of my favorite authors and one of the few who created gay characters as just normal people in her world. I was part of the Dragonriders of Pern Fan club Fort Weyr. Here is one of the pictures I did way back when of my character from Fort, T'ran and his green dragon, Ananth! "Bad Timing", 8 1/2 x 11, marker on art paper. Prints available.

Feeding The Muse Again

Well, I have tried working on some of the stuff I need to be doing and it is just not working! So here is another "muse treat". This is a Steampunk ornament painted on a 3 inch wooden disc. "Black Unicorn Over London", Acrylic on wood. SOLD, prints for sale. Picture 51.

Round Wood Muse Treat

While I have lots I should be doing, I can't seem to get any of them to work right now. So, I had an idea for badges painted on wooden rounds. And since Anbessa has commissioned me twice and I enjoyed doing the work for him, I thought I would do this as a gift for him. "Anbessa badge", acrylic on a 3 inch wooden round. If you like the idea and want one, they are $20. (The person I did this for requested I change the lion mane to black, so here is the new version as well). Picture 50.

Dark Muse Treat

This is what some on FurAffinity call "personal art", basically something done for themselves and not as a commission etc. I loved the images in the movie Pans Labyrinth and until now I had not tried to do anything based on them. This is based on a photo of Pan from the movie and was pretty quick to do and fun.
"Pan in Shadow", 7 1/2 x 11, white Prisma Color and Acrylic on black board. Original and prints for sale. Picture 49.

Oh Deer

More Christmas card ideas, well one more. I have always liked the strong graphic designs of some of the classic Christmas cards from my childhood. So I did this reindeer as a simple graphic design on dark blue. "Snow Deer", 10 x 7 1/2, Pro White on Canson board. SOLD,  prints for sale. Picture 48.

Christmas Continued

Here is the (I think) finished version of the Christmas Elf card idea. There will be words of some kind on the actual card when we use it for Christmas. It is roughly 8 x 10, Acrylic and ProWhite on Canson board. Original and prints for sale. Picture 47.

Start on Christmas

I have tons to do, some even for money, but time demands that I do our Christmas card design now if I want to be able to have it printed in time to send them out for Christmas. I have a start but I am not sure what to have balanced on his fingers...or floating in front of him etc. Any ideas will be appreciated! I plant to have him wearing green and red most likely. Remember, this is an early step in the process.

Muse Treat, Eye Test

OK, I just did this as a test to see if my eyes were going to work well enough using the two pair of glasses at the same time trick to be able to do art. It seems ok to me, but I need to know if it really looks OK, so please let me know. It is a muse treat since it is a small quick picture not part of what I should be doing. "Creature Study", 8 x 10, Acrylic and white Prisma Color on Canson board. Original and prints for sale. Picture 46.

The End?

My eye problems are really making me crazy and worried but I am trying to work around it. Since I have nothing new to post I am trying to find stuff I have not posted here before. So here is another hand colored print. This was done for the back of my black and white book "Darkness & Light: Demons and Angels" (out of print). I admit I am a butt man and this angel has cute bunns! I love his face and wings as well. The black and white version is nice but I think color really makes this a great picture! "Heavenly End", 8 1/2 x 11, Acrylic and watercolor colored pencil on goldenrod card stock. Prints available.

Elf Improvement

Well...since I am pretty sure I had already posted the Amor Box, I am trying again. This is a hand colored version of a black and white piece I did for one of my black & white books as the the cover. "Web of Life; Black Fire", maybe 10 x 10, Acrylic and watercolor colored pencil on goldenrod cardstock. Prints available.

Box Art

I hope again I have not already posted this. It is a painted box that I did several years ago. I was trying to make an imitation ivory look for the center circle and do some inlay look as well. This is still available for sale. "Amor Box", 12 x 9 x 3 1/2, Acrylics and enamel on wood. The sides are decorated with a plant and gold border similar to that on the top. The inside is painted in a fake heart wood (red stain).

Why No New Art?

Just to update people and explain why I have not posted any new art in a while. My diabetes has played havoc with my eye sight and so it is hard to do any art right now. To make it clear how much problem it is, I am right now wearing a pair of off the rack reading glasses AND my prescription glasses over them (it looks stupid) just so I can see well enough to read and type this.

I hope VERY much that once we get my diabetes under control I can see an eye Dr and get new glasses that will work for me so I can get back to doing the art I need and want to do!

Knight Knight

Here is another old SCA related picture. I did this as the illumination part of a scroll. It is based on a 13th century manuscript page. The background looks odd because it is gold leaf that is not well done. "Battle Scene", 3 x 9 (I think),  Acrylic and gold leaf on clayboard (again, I think).

Hell Mouth in the Snow

The event I made the Hell Mouth entry way for had snow, yes SNOW all day long, 2 days before Halloween! It was cold and windy and we still had a full feast and a good time! Here is one of the only pictures of the Hell Mouth I did in place. It is about 9 feet tall and as wide as a very large sheet (I forget the mesurments exactly). I had to add strips on the side and the wind blew them around in this picture. Acrylics, latex house paint, on a sheet.

New To THis Page I Hope

This is a black scroll I did a few years ago, before I had this Weble, so I hope it has not been posted before. Black Russian (so called because it was for a Russian persona and the calligraphy, not shown, was in Cyrillic), 8 1/2 x 5, Acrylic on black paper.

Almost a Real Boy

Here is a picture of my BJD (ball jointed doll), now with a face, eyes, hair and looking allot like a boy than an alien as in the first picture I showed of him. Still working on the hair, not sue what it will look like when finished. He needs clothing but for now, this is what I have.
