Animal of a Diffrent Color...er Stripe

My friend Theddy http://www.furaffinity.net/user/akirashima/ does amazing stuff. I get to occasionally color some of his black and whites. This is "Skunkupine" an anthropomorphic mix of a skunk and a porcupine. I love the design and overall look. I am not totally thrilled with my coloring of it...but it's what I did. 8 1/2 x 11 Acrylic, watercolor colored pencil and Prisma Color on cardstock print.

Back from Balticon

Well, I think my "fluke years" are over but I sold fairly well overall. Can't complain. Having prints helped alot and the new print system for the con worked for me. Theddy, who I agented for sold one picture...but he only had 7 things in the show and all where prints. So not bad at all really.

I met a great guy named Dirk Shearer, he does amazing scratch board work. This is hi website;  http://www.dirkshearer.com/Dirk_Shearer_Illustrator/Title_Page.html He has a weble/blog that he has not posted on for a while, give him a kick and maybe we can get him to post there more often! I hope to have some of his prints in my shop at Pennsic this year!

Next works will most likely be commissions I am behind on. So, most likely older work will be posted for a while I suspect.

Cat Scratch

I bought a lovely frame back around Christmas and it is long and thin. I just decided to try and do a picture to fit it and this is what I came up with. I could do allot more on this but one thing you have to learn as an artist is when to STOP! This is an anthro Snow Leopard tangled in wild roses. "Snow & Roses", 6 x 22, Acrylic and watercolor colored pencil on Canson board.  Original and prints for sale. Picture 45.

Tarot Stuff

Here are 8 of my Tarot cards from the full color finished deck I did back in the 80's. I have put a few individual cards up before but thought I would show a group together. The quality of this scan is not the best but I can't do it much larger without problems. If you would like to see one of these on it's own slightly better quality, just ask.

Odd Historic Art

This was done several years ago for an SCA scroll. It is based on an illumination found in the Duke DeBarry Hours. Death on a furry brown unicorn, very odd... my version was maybe 5 x 7 Acrylic on paper.

Liar Liar

Found on another Weble. I love this!

Little Bunny

I found a picture of a little boy at Easter time who apparently was so excited he forgot his clothing but managed to put rabbit ears on. It was very cute and innocent, so I had to do my own picture inspired by it. So, here is "Son of the Easter Bunny", 6 x 11, Acrylic and watercolor colored pencil on Canson board. For some reason the scan is off a bit color wise. The pink egg should be VERY pink and not the softer shade you see here. Original/prints for sale. Picture 44.

Made Me Laugh

OK, I saw this on another site and had to borrow it!

More Old Drawings

This is a portrait of a good friend who saved my life and who I love dearly. He is one of the sweetest and best men anyone would ever want to know. Old pencil sketch from the 80's. "Jon", it was maybe 8 1/2 x 11, pencil on paper. (this is cropped from a wrinkled original scan).

Old Old Drawing

This is a pencil drawing from High School or college (not sure witch) but it is from the 70's almost for sure. It is Rudolph Nureyev, the amazing ballet dancer. He was just TO pretty!

Personal Veiw on Illegal Immigrants

Found this on another site. As someone with a large Native American heritage (my great, great, great grandmother was full blood on my Dads side). I found this very good and I think it makes a good point. Whites (European immigrants) should really think about their own status here!

Another Experiment

I got a great book on Art Nouveau stained glass designs when our local small book store went out of business (We will miss them allot). This inspired me to do something based on some of these designs. As I was working it came to me that maybe trying something new would be good...so, this is what I came up with. "The Faerie Trap", 5 x 16 3/4, Acrylic, watercolor colored pencil and Micron marker on Canson board. Original for sale/prints available. Picture 43.

Way of Life versus Life! (reposted from a friends LJ)

Way of life versus Life
i admit i like disaster movies. the epic big ones like asteroid hits and 2012's insane tectonic upheavals of DOOM and stuff like the core. but one thing about them always kinda made me wanna slap someone. the need to not protect LIFE but a fucking WAY OF LIFE!?!?!?! "We shall protect the American way of life in these giant underground shelters and other countries will do what they find appropriate"

i just chalked it up to bad writing. but now i see it in the news with the giant oil spill and global warming and other ecological disasters. No mention by politicians of say Saving the fucking ecosystem from things like oily death. nope. Tourism! WAY OF LIFE! not LIFE. it pisses me off as much as the term LIFESTYLE. i have a fucking LIFE not a lifestyle. i did not wake up one day and decided to live in a certain way. and tomorrow i am not going to wake up and be a straight republican. styles change. as do WAYS OF LIFE! but all this focus on things like Will we still be able to strip mine the ocean of fish and delicious crab? instead of HOLY FUCK CLEAN IT UP NOW AND SAVE SOME LIVES!

Honestly anymore what really is worth saving about our way of life anyway. it has become a joke. we trade our freedom for the illusions of safety. we let our tax money bail out corporations while people lose homes and those corporations gift themselves money and send more jobs overseas fucking the people that were robed to pay them off in the first damn place. we consume without ever having a thought to what we are depleting. Most people seem to think things magically Appear in the grocery store or other shops. Hell in winter we toss enough salt on the roads to pay off an entire roman legion back in the day. everyone is obsessed with the latest and greatest of whatever happens to be there and tosses perfectly functional stuff in the garbage. Right up the road from here is a Second hand store that tosses out DUMPSTERS full of stuff she does not want to sell. and then posts that no one can dumpster dive in it for stuff. Anne's on the other hand bags up everything not good enough for sale in her store to send to goodwill and other places.

sigh... off my high horse and off to fold laundry and such. (this is all from Theddy's Live Journal post).

I could not agree more with this! His points reflect what I have seen as a major problem with the US and the world for a LONG time!

Sexy Mouse badge

Another anthro badge done for Fur Affinity. This is an odd looking mouse I guess but I like him. 3 1/4 x 4, Acrylic and watercolor colored pencil on Canson board (I know, what a shook!) Picture 42.

Hyena Part Two

After doing "Osiris with Goblet" and deciding it was not right, I had to do a second version for the client. I did this before I showed him the first one. This is much better as it is a cute hyena and captures his character MUCH better. I really like this one! "Osiris, Name of Power", 4 x 5, Acrylic and watercolor colored pencil on Canson board. He liked them both but this is the one he wants! (as I suspected) Picture 41.

From Skunk to Hyena

Sometimes a well done picture is still a failure. I was commissioned to do a badge for someone with a cute hyena anthro character. Working from their character sheet and pictures of real hyenas, I came up with this. The details and look are well done (even if I say so myself), but the end product is not right. He is not cute and just looks wrong to me. So, this is a failed attempt! "Osiris with Goblet", 4 x 5, Acrylic and watercolor colored pencil on Canson board. Picture 40.

Stranger Creatures

This is a badge for someone on Fur Affinity who has a foxkey (fox monkey hybrid). It is an interesting creature and I did him more wild than he usually is shown. I think it's cute and the person it was for liked it! "Sionn Badge", 4 1/4 x 3 1/4 Acrylic and watercolor colored pencil on Canson board. Picture 38.

Extinct No More

The Quagga was related to the Zebra but was killed off by the Europeans when they colonized Africa. This is my Anthropomorphic version of one. "Hold That Pose, Anthro Quagga". The pose is based on classical male art model poses as is the draped background. 9 x 12 Acrylic and waterclolor colored pencil on Canson board. The original will be for sale at Balticon and prints are for sale now. Picture 35.

Japanese Print Style

Finally, I have a relatively decent picture of the finished Griffin picture. This is inspired by Japanese prints and is the third in my series of Japanese print style Griffins. The Kanji says "Waterfall Guardian" (which is the name of the picture). 11 x 22, Acrylic, Micron marker and watercolor colored pencil on Canson board. I will have a print of this for sale at Anthro Con. The original SOLD at Balticon. Picture 34.

Shaply Letters

When I did my first black and white book, "Manmagic", I had sections or chapters and each had a title page. For these I designed capital letters for them. Here are the M (miscellaneous men), S ( men of the sea) , E (elfs), V (vampyres) and G (gods). These were very small, maybe an inch tall each. Marker on paper.

Newest Picture

I will post my newest picture tomorrow sometime (I hope). I have a photo of it, but it's just not good enough quality to bother posting. I will say this is the third in my Japanese print style Gryfon series. I like it and hope it will sell well at Balticon at the end of May.

Lion God Finished

I finally finished the Nefertem picture. He is the Egyptian God of Perfume and the sun rise and is sometimes shown as a lion headed God (his mother is Sekmet, she is lion headed as well). I am pretty happy with it and I like the background...so, here is "Nefertem Anointing", 12 1/4 x 14 1/2, Acrylic, watercolor colored pencil on Canson board. Original and prints available for sale. Picture 33.

Happy May Day!

I did this several years back as a black and white. This is a hand colored print. "May Day", 8 1/2 x 11 Acrylic on printed card stock. The real May pole was a phallus and the celebration was a fertility thing. Prints available.
