Tiny Portrait

I did a ACEO trade with one of the artists on Nabyn ttp://schiraki.nabyn.com/ she did me a nice little ACEO of Nightcrawler and I tried to do a portrait of her fiance...I hope it is a good enough likeness. I had a few photos to work from but none really worked well for me to paint from. So here is the ACEO portrait, 2 1/2 x 3 1/2 Acrylic and Micron marker (just the border) on Canson board. Picture 31.

Good Printer Gone Bad

So, I have a good convention, come home, print one picture just fine and when I try to print a second picture the stupid machine stops working! :( It would cost over $1000 to get a new one and I can NOT afford that even remotely! So now I am without a printer!

New Boy in a Tree

My little Trevi seems to like the out doors and I got some good pictures of him playing in a tree. And I am normally a VERY bad photographer. So here in my little BJD Trevi in a tree. I will have to paint him sometime for sure!

Balticon 46 is Over

I was worried a month ago that I would have no new art for Balticon and that would be bad since it is my best selling con for the past 6 years and new art was very important. Well, my muse went from sleeping or sluggish, to being on speed! I think I counted 11 pictures done in the past 3 weeks. I was more  concerned after having the new art with sales at my Artists Alley table. Those sales went very slow and were not near as good as last year. BUT, this was my best Balticon Art Show ever! I sold 9 pictures, had 2 in the auction (both bid up from the final bid and one being my highest selling picture in an art show ever!) So, now I just hope my muse will keep working and I can get commissions that have been waiting done!

Another Bone to Pick

I have no idea what the Bone Key and this new picture are part of, but they are clearly related. They are artifacts of some sort...I suspect there will be more that pop up. "The Bone Cup", 4 x 9 5/8, Acrylic on Canson board. Original and prints for sale. Picture 30.

New Need Better Name

It is a bad photo but good enough to post for now. This is 16 x 16 (the black around it is just fill not part of the actual picture). It is a pain to paint mountains like this but also fun. For now I am calling this "Dragon Airship" but I would realy like a better name. Done in Acrylic and a tiny bit of watercolor colored pencil on Canson board. Original SOLD, prints for sale (once I get better pictures to make prints from). Picture 29.
This ended up with the name "The Mountain Pass" and it sold at Balticon.

BJDs

Since I have not posted anything in a few days (new art is coming) I decided to post a new picture of my BJDs (Ball Jointed Dolls). The new little one who I adore, now has hair but not the hair I wanted. I wanted a white blond wig for him but they were out of that one so I got the brown one. So here is a bad picture (cause I can not take decent pictures of these guys it seems) of Trevi (the little one) and Ian.

Well I got no help on here for names for this. But I finally found something I like and have finished this in time for Balticon. The pattern on the kimono only proves my insanity! The title is Japanese in feel and has multiple meanings. Needs a Name Fast

This is my latest picture, it will be colored soon but I am posting the inked part in hopes of maybe getting some help with the title. I have already done "Wolf Samurai" so that is not a title option...I will put the name in Kanji on the picture (as per my other works of this style).

Any ideas for a name?

Quote

“The man who arrives at the doors of artistic creation with none of the madness of the Muses would be convinced that technical ability alone was enough to make an artist… what that man creates by means of reason will pale before the art of inspired beings.”

My New Arrival

Sorry the picture is a bit blurry, but it is the best I can do. His name is Trevi, he is a BJD, 10 inches tall, looks like a 5 year old, has grey eyes with a hint of purple. I have to get him hair and clothes yet. I asked for money to get him for Christmas and got it...but then my son needed to get out to Wyoming to see his mother before she died, so I bought him a plane ticket with my money for the doll.  When my husbands tax refund came in, he bought the doll for me and after almost 3 months, he is here!! He is SO cute, I adore his face and he is very articulated!

Scroll Part 3

Here is the finished illumination for the AoA scroll commission. I wish I had been able to do the heraldry better...Next the calligraphy, which I am bad at and then it will be done.

Perfect

I want this on a shirt...I may have to make it myself!

Scroll Next Step

Here is the scroll I posted yesterday with all of the illumination done. It still needs the Arms to be finished and the illuminated capital done. Then I will have to do the calligraphy (my least favorite part). See last post for detailed information.

OK, it is not done but I wanted to post something to show I am finally working on stuff I am supposed to be doing! So here is the first few steps on an AoA scroll I am doing. It is a commission and I hope will be done (except for the calligraphy) by the end of the week. More Old Art

OK, I have not yet done a colored version of this (but I may), but I seem to have never posted it here. It is one of my favorite pictures that I did for my out of print book "Darkness & Light". It was done in 1997, and I still love his face and the pose! I invented the sigel seen in this picture on my own instead of using something already existing. "Daydreaming Imp", 8 1/2 x 11,  marker on Bristol. Prints available.
