More Anthro

I started the sketch for this early last year and it just didn't go anywhere. But I liked the sketch enough to keep it and have it near my drawing board so I would see it once in a while. 3 days ago I picked it up and started inking what I had sketched, made a few changes and ended up with this. It is small 3 1/2 x 10 1/2 aprox. I like it. As always, I look forward to input and opinions from others.
Picture number 11 so far this year (not counting the scroll which I started last year and finished this year).

  1. Hi Tristan:

I like most of this piece. The fur work is very nice, and the head, arms, and upper body all look quite good. Even the upper legs look good. But it's the lower legs that just don't look powerful enough to support the rest of the creature's body. It might be as simple a fix as "beefing up" the calf muscles. I'm not certain. But, that's where I feel the "problem" is with this piece, if a problem does indeed exist.

That's my opinion. Of course, I could be wrong. ;)

  2. Jon, you point out one of the problems of doing anthro art. In trying to do a blend of animal and human (and not just a furry human with an animal head) some of the phisiology/anatomy is hard to make work. The lower legs are a real trouble spot and I will be working on it for a long time I am sure. Thanks,
    Tristan

  3. Yeah the legs just need "beefed" up a little. but otherwise it is quite nice.
