Old New Work

I started this years ago, maybe 13 or so years ago an I had not finished it until now. It was originally an arch shape and was going to go over one of our doors and blend with the stonework I have done on the walls. But it is now without a purpose that I am sure of. I have some ideas but I really do not know what I will end up doing with it. This started as grey heavy duty art paper, I then used Latex house paint (the same stuff I marbleized our living room and hall walls with) and then started doing this. Based on a black chalk, pen and brown ink and brown wash drawing by Francesco Primaticcio from the 1500's.  So here is "The Nile Frieze",  aprox 9 x 15, Latex paint, Acrylics, Prisma Color and Micron pen.  The dark grey area is computer added to mark off the painted area. I will cut it out in the stone colored shape. Prints available. Picture 5.

  1. This looks great! I love how you do monocolor. The composition reminds me of things I saw in my old Roman days. Have you ever earned money doing faux finishes for interior decorators?
