I did this (before the Yule Cards) and it was the first I did to try and get out of my slump a few months ago. It didn't get me out of the slump and it sat and got worked on a little here and a little there and is still not done (well, I don't know what else I am doing with it but I don't think it's done). Not sure of the final name for this either...anyway, thought I would post it before the end of the year since even if it does not get finished before the new year, I consider it a 2010 picture.
"True Soul" or "Soul Satyr"... 28 x 11, acrylic, prisma colors, house paint, watercolor colored pencils (I think). 71

Tristan, I really like this. The whole thing reminds me of moonlight spilling upon a sleeping satyr. Don't know what's casting that dark circle-ish shadow, though; perhaps he's sleeping on a dark mat.

There's something cosmological about this floating figure. Maybe the dark circle behind him is a black hole, or an eclipsed planet, or a dark moon. There's a dreamlike quality here which connects with astronomical fantasy.
ReplyDeleteI think there's space for a staff or pole thru his hands
ReplyDeleteOger, he is not polevaulting!
ReplyDeleteNo, I know what the dark circle is -- it's the pupil of the Eye of Sauron!
