Arthurian Meets Japanese

I like all the details in this (wish I had used a better piece of board, this one is a bit in squared). Anyway here is "Mizumi no reijin" (Lady of the lake), 5 x 10 1/4, Acrylic, Micron pen, watercolor colored pencil and ProWhite on Canson board. Original and prints available. Picture 88.

Mine! Once I pay for him

I am in a sculpting group on FaceBook (no I don't sculpt) and this was displayed in it and had no home. So I asked about it and plan to buy it when I get money after Christmas. It will be finished up and his wings will not stay pink. He is 6 to 8 inches tall (I think the 8 is with the wings). Original sculpture.

OK, New Art

I got into Arisia's art show and need some smaller easily shipped stuff to send so I am hoping I can do some art in the next week. This is the first, I hope. It could be better but I am somewhat happy with it all things considered. "Dragon Dream", 6 1/2 x 14, Acrylic, Micron pen and ProWhite on Canson board. Original and prints available. Picture 86.

No Christmas

It looks like once again we will have no Christmas. Last year we had no tree and minimal gifts. It looks like the same will be true this year. We still have not got Joe's room ready and with him in the livingroom we have no place to put a tree and money is tight so gifts will be minimal.

Old Picture of Me

I hate pictures of myself but I found this old picture of me as a child. I think I was 2 or 3 when this was taken. I was cute, to bad that didn't last!

New Site To Sell Art

I have spent alot of time trying to add as much art to my new site as possible. I suspect it is all a waste of time but if I get some sales from it I will be proven wrong. http://tristanalexandershop.blogspot.com/

Well I finally forced myself to do some art since we had to have something for our Holiday cards. This is inspired by Japanese prints, "Night Snow", 11 x 7 1/8, Acrylic and Micron pen on Bristol. Original and prints available. Picture 84.

Pain

Well I have not been able to draw or paint since the election but now I am in a great deal of physical pain. My own stupid fault and I deserve it. But now I can not sleep because of both physical and emotional pain and it even hurts to type. This has not been a good year, could be my last.

Everything is Fine

I have been informed that nothing I fear is valid and Trump didn't really mean anything he said. So Everything is fine! I am just stupid!

Inktober 29, 30, 31

Since we lost our cat Corum on Monday and were dealing with this for a week before, and since I did such a overly complex picture for this Inktober instalment, I am counting this as the last 3 pictures for Inktober. Corum Has Passed

Our oldest cat, Corum passed away tonight. He had been fighting kidney problems for a while and this past week he went down hill fast. He was 17 or 18, a very loving cat and I will miss him terribly!

Inktober 28

Another small white on black picture. Inktober 28, "Magic Circle", 6 x 6, white gel pen on black paper. Original and prints available. Picture 82.

Inktober 27

This was an experiment, I did a half black and half white page then added black and white to it to make this image.  Chiaroscuro in art is the use of strong contrasts between light and dark, usually bold contrasts affecting a whole composition. Inktober 27, "Chiaroscuro", 7 1/2 x 9, Micron pen and white gel pen on black and white paper. Prints available. Picture 81.

Lost A Good Man

I am devistated this morning, one of my oldest and most loved friends has passed. Jon Westcot https://www.facebook.com/jon.westcot He was one of the most gentle, loving and generous people I have ever known. I woudl not be ablive now if not for his love and support at a time in my life when I had nothing. I have never known anyone with a bigger heart.
I can not belive he is gone. Since I do think tthat part of us returns, the reincarnation is real in some form, I hope he comes back, the world needs people like him.
I can not find the words...I love you Jon.

This is a pencil sketch I did from life of him back in the 80's when we spent most of our time together!

IF anyone wants to pre orer "Sons of the Sea" it is $20 and will be $3 shipping.

Well I had done the covers for 3 books in a series and was looking forward to doing the forth, but it seems the author now plans to use a more "graphic" read abstract crappy cover for the fourth book and will be redoing all the covers I di in the "new" "graphic" style! BUGGER!

Guess my wok is useless!

9/11

Posted on Facebook by Jim Wright (Stonekettle Station), Facebook removed it but it has been copied and pasted and I hope everyone reads it!

You're expecting some kind of obligatory 9-11 post, aren't you?
Here it is, but you're not gonna like it.
15 years ago today 19 shitheads attacked America.
They killed 3000 of us.
And then ... America got its revenge for 9-11.
Yes we did. Many times over. We killed them. We killed them all. We killed their families. We killed their wives and their kids and all their neighbors. We killed whole nations that weren't even involved just to make goddamned sure. We bombed their cities into rubble. We burned down their countries.
They killed 3000 of us, we killed 300,000 of them or more.
8000 of us came home in body bags, but we got our revenge. Yes we did.
We're still here. They aren't.
We win. USA! USA! USA!
Right?
You goddamned right. We. Win.
Except...
Every year on this day we bath in the blood of that day yet again. We watch the towers fall over and over. It's been 15 goddamned years, but we just can't get enough. We've just got to watch it again and again.
It's funny how we never show those videos of the bombs falling on Baghdad today. Or the dead in the streets of Afghanistan. We got our revenge, but we never talk about that today. No, we just sit and watch the towers fall yet again.
Somewhere out there on the bottom of the sea are the rotting remains of the evil son of bitch who masterminded the attack. It took a decade, but we hunted him down and put a bullet in his brain. Sure. We got him. Right? That's what we wanted. that's what our leaders promised us, 15 years ago today.
And today those howling the loudest for revenge shrug and say, well, yeah, that. That doesn't matter, because, um, yeah, the guy in the White House, um, see, well, he's not an American, he's the enemy see? He's not doing enough. So, whatever. What about that over there? And that? And...
Yeah.
15 years ago our leaders, left and right, stood on the steps of the Capitol and gave us their solemn promise to work together, to stand as one, for all Americans.
How'd that promise work out?
How much are their words worth? Today, 15 years later?
It's 15 years later and we're STILL afraid. We're still terrorized. Still wallowing in conspiracy theories and peering suspiciously out of our bunkers at our neighbors. Sure we won. Sure we did. We became a nation that tortures our enemies -- and our own citizens for that matter. We're a nation of warrantless wiretaps and rendition and we've gotten used to being strip searched in our own airports. And how is the world a better place for it all?
And now we're talking about more war, more blood.
But, yeah, we won. Sure. You bet.
Frankly, I have had enough of 9-11. Fuck 9-11. I'm not going to watch the shows. I'm not going to any of the memorials. I'm not going to the 9-11 sales at Wal-Mart. I don't want to hear about 9-11. I for damned sure am not interested in watching politicians of either party try to out 9-11 each other. I'm tired of this national 9-11 PTSD. I did my bit for revenge, I went to war, I'll remember the dead in my own time in my own way.
I'm not going to shed a damned tear today.
We got our revenge. Many times over, for whatever good it did us.
I'm going to go to a picnic and enjoy my day. Enjoy this victory we've won.
I suggest you do the same.

Elven Duchess WIP 5

Yes I have jumped ahead a bit, now adding color and working on details. I have an idea of what the background will be but wanted to get more of her done first. This is a detail of the overall picture.

Elven Duchess WIP 2

This is becoming a lot more complex than I thought it would be, still hoping it will turn into an amazing painting. Duchess Ellime WIP 3 (color removed for clarity).

Finished Trade

Here is the finished trade for Sixrabbits over on Weasyl.
This is the Goddess Arianrhod;  "The Silver Wheel", "High Fruitful Mother". Celtic (Welsh) Goddess, the sister of Gwydion and wife of Donn. Deity of element of Air, reincarnation, full moons, time, karma, retribution. The palace of this sky Goddess was Caer Arianrhold (Aurora Borealis). Keeper of the Silver Wheel of Stars, a symbol of time and karma. Her ship, Oar Wheel, carried dead warriors to Emania (Moon-land).
Sigrabbits wanted something a bit dark (hence the dead warriors). I like how it came out.  This is 9 x 12, Prisma Color and ProWhite on black paper. Prints available. Picture 44.

Elven Duchess Commission

Just before Pennsic, in order to help me out, I got this wonderful commission, it is a game character and has to be perfect! This is the second WIP sketch for her. Not a great pic, but it is what it is (this is a detail of a slightly larger pic). I hope when it is finished this will be one of my best!
