Not My Normal Style

Well, I did a quick little picture while trying to work out the pose for the next fight picture. This is very unlike my normal stuff. It was inspired by the works of Gustav Klempt, some of the newer stuff by Michael Parkes and a small portion of a Will Bradley drawing. I used no actual reference (other than looking at the art of the afore mentioned people). I like it but I am sure I will not be doing much if any other work in this "style". "Love in the Abstract", 7 1/2 x 11, Acrylic, Micron marker, Copic marker, watercolor colored pencil, Pro White on Canson board. Original and prints for sale. picture 19.

Great Concert

Don and I just saw Jonny Clegg in concert, it was amazing! If you don't know him and his music, you should check it out! He was part of a mixed race group that played in South African durring Aparthid!

Dark Decorative Dance

This is a patchwork scan of the latest picture (my camera is not working so this will have to do for now). I am not sure how well this worked, but I like the strong dark and light and the decortaive border. Here you see an Albino merman in a cave with some sharks. Not alot more to say about it. I did feel like I was going back to my roots a bit with this one as I used latex housepaint as part of the background (latex and acylic are the same thing realy). When I was in high school and first painting, I had no money so used what was easily available many times. And old latex house paint was easy to find. "In the Cave of the Ghost Shark", 15 1/2 x 20, Acrylic, latex, and watercolor colored pencil on Canson board. When I get a better picture the original and prints will be for sale. Picture 18.

Great article, I knew this from my EFM studies but this article explains it better than I could.

Inspiration

Just to show how NOT a copy my latest picture is of the picture that inspired it, I thought I would post the picture that sparked my idea. It is a book plate by Alfred Liebing, circa 1920. I was tempted to do my own version in the woodcut/etched style and color it, but decided to go with the more painted graphic style I ended up with. I hope you can see how this inspired my second Faerie Ring Press logo idea.

Logo Two

I was inspired by a black and white illustration for the early 1900's to do a different version of my Faerie Ring Press logo. I think it has an interesting feel. "Faerie Ring Press Logo 2", 8 x 9 roughly, Micron marker, Acrylic and watercolor colored pencil. Prints without lettering available. Picture 17.

Updated Logo

My original logo design for Faerie Ring Press was done small and in black and white. It was fine for what it was, but then I did a hand colored version and blew it up larger...it looked good in color but the larger format showed the flaws that did not show in a tiny picture. So now I have updated the logo, not allot of changes but a few small tweaks and hopefully removal of the things that looked bad when enlarged. This will be used as the back of my next book "Faerie Dust".  Micron marker and Acrylic on card stock, 4 inch circle. Picture 16.

BAD Apple

Apple approves iPhone app that "cures" homosexuality (well, one that supports that insane, abusive and evil idea!) If you own an iPhone, contact Apple and tell them you want that app removed! It should be illegal in this country at least, to try and "cure" homosexuality since ALL of the supposed "cures" are torture and phycologically damaging and NEVER work. The authorities on mental health ALL agree it is harmful and wrong, so why can churches and other groups still do it? Boycott Apple!

Church Police

Well, now I even have a follower who clearly is out of place here and is associated with the Church...I guess I will really have to watch what I say about Christians! Not that I will say anything negative again since I have been told I am not allowed to! Funny how some groups can say whatever they want about others but if you say anything not nice about them you are the one who is bad and wrong!

In Progress Merman Pic

Since I have not posted much in a few days and since I am working on a picture to just do something I like, and as a break from the fighter pics. I thought I would show the in progress version (with a small part of my drawing table). This is Acrylic on Canson board, 20 x 15 and not quite a half.

Fight Commission Continues

If the person who commissioned it is happy with it, then this is the finished version of the "Junkyard Faceoff". Doing the junkyard part was hard for me, just not my normal thing. And I am not sure I am happy with the boy on the right (Bronco), but it is as good as I can do right now. My anger has made my health bad and I keep getting reangered! "Junkyard Faceoff", 8 1/2 x 11, Acrylic on Canson board. Prints available. Picture 15.

Older Than You Thought

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/south_asia/1768109.stm

http://krishna.org/city-under-the-sea/

A few years back, I heard about this and have recently seen a show and found several more articles on this. I LOVE that the idea that human civilization is WAY older than was previously thought is now being seriously considered! My own feelings etc. about Atlantis seems more and more valid. They did NOT come from space, have lasers etc. But they were building cities and had culture and civilization when most of the world was primitive and living in caves!

Anyway, very thought provoking and cool!

Delayed Art

Well, since I like to use references to get lighting and stuff right, I often print out pictures to use for this. And even with 2 printers, I can't print anything. Why? Cause they both need ink! So the "Junkyard Face Off" will not be done this week as I had hoped...but early next week I hope I can have it finished. Sooooo, I am working on something else and who knows when it will be done?

HAHAHAHA

Next Fight

Well, the fight scenes continue...here is the greyscale with sketched in background. Finished picture will be done by the end of the week if not sooner, I hope. "Junkyard Fight", 8 1/2 x 11 Acrylic and pencil on Canson board.

Finished Football Fight

It is a bit plain I guess but overall is a nice picture. I messed up and had to do allot more work because of my mistake. The grass is now way more detailed than I had originally planed to make it. A million or more strokes more than planed, I would say. Anyway, here is "Football Fight", 8 1/2 x 11, Acrylic on Canson board. Prints available. Picture 14.

Bad for Good

I had hoped to have the Football Fight picture done, but I messed it up and have to fix it...and it was not cooperating. SO, I had already started this picture and decided to finish it. I love working on black paper.
"Night Fall", 9 x 12, Acrylic and Prisma Color. Original and prints for sale. Picture 13.

Lost Shakespear Play

OK, not realy a Shakespear play, but one featured in a Monty Python skit! I did this many years ago as a playbill for the "New" or "lost" play by the bard! People have seemed to like it and I have sold many copies of this "playbill"! The original was 9 x 12  marker on Bristol. Prints available.
