Small Japanese Fox

One more to go after this, I think. This is fairly small, 3 1/2 x 10 1/2 and not very complex but I think it came out well. "Blue Eyed Kitsune", Acrylic, Micron pen, ProWhite and watercolor colored pencil on Canson board. SOLD, prints available. Picture 39.

Stupid Computer

I am having all kinds of problems with my computer, it is freezing up and not working on several sights, including Tumblr and Facebook and others. My husband who does computer stuff for a living can't seem to find the problem. We switched from Internet Explorer to Chrome, not much difference...it seems the problems are happening no matter.

Japanese Western Style

Well this is really Western style Japanese, the background was inspired by Japanese prints that were trying to look Western in style...so it is a real mash up. The kanji says "West Woods". Overall I like how it came out. I have to do at least 2 more for the calendar as several of the others were not proportionately right for the layout. "Young Samurai in the Western Woods", 6 1/2 x 15, Acrylic, Micron pen, ProWhite, Watercolor colored pencil on Canson board. Original and prints for sale. Picture 38.

Next Japanese ... Maybe Not

Well, I had hoped to do a Japanese print style centaur...it is not coming out as I had hoped. I am putting it aside and maybe someday I will try and finish it, maybe. Oh well.

One More Japanese Style Picture

I think I am close to having enough to do the calendar. I may do one or two more just to give me options. "Long Tailed Rose Finch and Morning Glories", 4 1/2 x 12 1/2, Acrylic and watercolor colored pencil on Canson board. Original and prints for sale. Picture 37.

Not To Boaring I Hope

The next picture in my Japanese print inspired series. I found a wonderful painting of a boar on a Japanese scroll and just had to do something inspired by it. One observation I made while doing the body and armor is how  similar the Samurai armor and outfit is to the German landsknecht! Having  drawn/painted both there really is a strange similarity in form and style. "Boar Samurai", 6 3/4 x 14, Acrylic, Micron pen, ProWhite and watercolor colored pencil on Canson board. Original and prints available. Picture 36.

Fifty Year Cover

I did this several months back but did not want to post it before the event. The SCA (sca.org ) is celebrating it's 50th Year and I was asked to do the cover for the souvenir book. I also sent interior art but that was all old stuff. I think it is 9 x 12, it was done mostly in Egg Tempera with a little Acrylic and Micron pen on real velum. Picture 35.

The front and back covers are based on/inspired by the Morgan Picture
Bible/Book of Kings, France, 13th Century.
Front Cover;
Panel 1. This represents the Birthday/graduation party that started
everything.
Panel 2. Represents all Courts, showing a King and Queen giving awards to
deserving subject.
Panel 3. Represents all Crown Tournaments, it is the first Crown with the
Arms of the winner and the runner up (who apparently had no Arms but
disappeared to Germany soon after).
Panel 4. Hawk, Horse and Hound, representing the animals in the SCA.
Back Cover:
Panel 1. War, representing all SCA Wars but using the colors of the Middle
and the East Kingdoms since Pennsic was our first War and our largest.
Panel 2. Represents the Arts and Sciences, A Scribe, and Armorer and a
Musician.
Panel 3. Peers, Knight, Laurel, Pelican, Master of Defense. The banners
behind them represent the Royal Peers, County, Ducal and Ladies of the Rose.
Panel.4. The SCA now, families and children celebrating 50 years as a
Society.
The Arms of every kingdom in order of their formation is also shown.

Fishey Pic

Here is the next in my Japanese print style series. It did not come out how I wanted but I am going ahead and keeping it cause I just don't have time to scrap it and start over. "7 Koi", 4 1/2 x 10, Acrylic, Micron pen, ProWhite on Canson board. Original and prints available. Picture 33.

How I Feel

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R7M9TDWRUTQ

and this;

This sums it up (and I wish I could take credit for writing)
Us gays.
We make you look prettier.
We dress you for your important occasions....
We polish up your neighborhoods until we get priced out of them.
We plan and attend your weddings even though you take vows to an entity that hates us.
We are involved in every movie you see.
We are involved in every TV show you watch.
We are involved in every song you listen to - even the homophobic ones.
We teach your children without having to tell you it's us.
We protect your communities without having to tell you it's us.
We nurse you back to health without without having to tell you it's us.
We clean your gutters, paint your houses and mow your lawns without without having to tell you it's us.
We fix your pipes without without having to tell you it's us, even though you let us know what bathroom we can use.
We govern your citizens - sometimes openly, sometimes only until we're involved in a scandal after years of spewing homophobic rhetoric.
We are on every, single one of the sports teams you root for, but are usually hesitant to say we're there because we don't want shit thrown at us on the playing field.
We are at the root of every cue you take in life - even those of you who wish us dead.
We fight and die on your battlefields without letting you know it's us - and until recently, we weren't even allowed to let you know.
We got rid of DOMA.
We won the right to marry, which was already guaranteed to us, but we just had to work harder than you.
And now, as though we don't have enough on our plate, we will absolutely be the ones to fix up your abhorrent fucking gun laws.
Watch it happen, and marvel.
Because that's what we do.
We clean up your messes.
Without the guarantee of safety and respect in return.
Can you imagine doing ALL of that work without DECENCY as a reward?
So don't tell me I have to view ‪#‎PulseOrlando‬ as an attack on America instead of an attack on gay people.
Because we're not Americans when you call us faggots, we're not Americans when you legally fire us, we're not Americans when you kill trans people, we're not Americans when you deny us adoption rights, we're not Americans when you say nasty shit to us when we're holding hands on the street (and yeah, we do hear you) we're not Americans when you deny us marriage licenses or a simple wedding cake with our names on it.
In all of those circumstances we're just gay people, and being an American doesn't matter.
So, out of respect for everyone who fought and died before me, I'm going to take a few days to mourn as a gay man before I mourn as an American.
And then after that, you can resume telling me I have to be at war with people I don't know, even though I've been at war with my own countrymen my entire fucking life.
Be happy you're at war with ISIS.
Because you would lose a war against us.
Oh, and you're welcome in advance for the gun thing. Like always.

Orlando and Other Bad News

First, the horrible shootings in Orlando that targeted GLBT people makes me physically sick! The fact that most of the evidence shows his supposed radicalization was a smoke screen, he was gay and his religion made him hate himself and that is WHY he did what he did! But all anyone wants to talk about is Islamic terror. Not GUNS, not Homophobia, NOT religion! So I give up!

And the other more personal bad news is my son, who has been doing chemo and radiation to fight his breast cancer just found out that it has spread to one of his lungs and is stage 3! SO I will almost certainly lose my only child! We do not have the money to fight this as well as it can be fought (which is a so so chance of helping anyway)! So I have no hope left for anything. I see no point in life! This is more than I can handle!

Not that I expect more than one person to read or respond to this, but if you do, I do NOT want any "prayers"! They are useless and pointless as far as I am concerned. So please just DO NOT say you will pray for us or we will be in your prayers or any such useless platitudes!

100% Done Now

Another Japanese print style pic done for the upcoming calendar. Found a card game from the 6th century in Japan and did bad tiny versions of some of them in this picture. "Cards", 4 x 10, Acrylic, watercolor colored pencil, Micron pen and ProWhite on Canson board. Original and prints available. Picture 34.

Japanses Esque

OK, this one is heavily influenced by Japanese prints but may be a bit to much my design to look as Japanese as it should, or I would like. I have done several Gryphons in the Japanese style but none quite like this one, anyway..."Stalking Gryphon", 6 1/2 x 11 1/2, Micron pen, watercolor colored pencil, ProWhite and Acrylic on Canson board. Original and prints for sale. Picture 32.

I Egret Nothing

I don't think I have ever drawn an Egret before, inspired by Japanese prints of birds. "Egret", 4 1/2 x 9 1/2, Micron pen, Acrylic and watercolor colored pencil on Canson board. Original and prints for sale. Picture 31.

And Again

I keep feeling like I did a picture based on this same pose before but I can't find it, so, I did this and like it. "Boy with Butterfly", 4 1/2 x 10 1/2, Acrylic, watercolor colored pencil, Micron pen, Copic marker and ProWhite on Canson board. Original and prints available. Picture 30.

Next Japanese

I started this before Balticon but did not get far before it was not working for me. I decided since it was all drawn and partially inked to go ahead and finish it. I like parts of it a lot...anyway here is "Birdsong", 8 1/2 x 14 1/2, Acrylic, Micron pen, watercolor colored pencil and ProWhite on Canson board. Original and prints for sale. Picture 29.

Japanese Art Overload

Well, since I need to have enough of my Japanese print style art for a calendar (and have very little time to get it together) I will be trying to do a bunch of small pictures for this purpose. Here is the first one, "Wagtail with Flowers", 4 1/2 x 12 1/2, Acrylic, watercolor colored pencil and ProWhite on Canson board. SOLD prints available. Picture 28.

Old Art Found

This picture that I did in the early 80's has resurfaced. I still do not have it in my custody but hope to have soon. I will get a better picture of it once I have it back and will sell it and prints. This is "White Geigeresque", I think it is about 9 x 12, maybe a bit larger, Acrylic on canvas. I had done a black on black Geiger inspired picture back in the 70's (long sold and no pic to show) and this is a white version with the same theme and inspiration.
