Less Art

Well, I number all my art as I post it so I can keep track of how much I do each year. Last year I did 89 pieces of art...this year I only did 58! I feel bad that I did so little but I know the election of Trump and all the evil the Republicans have done as well as my sons cancer being worse and even harder on us has made me feel less like doing art than I did last year!

I hope 2018 somehow become a a better year all round and I am able to do more art.

Pointless

I knew when my son came to live with us after he got out of prison that he was playing us. But I love him and he needed us, even if he hated me and did everything he could to hurt me. Steal my stuff, break my stuff. But he is my son and I love him so I put up with it all.
Now he is very sick and he is still playing us and doing all he can to make my life miserable, no matter how much we do for him or how much I hurt because of the pain he is in.
I told him at least a year ago that I really wanted a picture of the 2 of us together, but he is not willing to even do that. He is happy to take selfies but not be in a picture with me. Well I no longer want it, when he dies I will only have the very few picture of him as a kid, and only I think 2 with me. Bu at this point I have put all of those in a box and I may never look at them again!
Clearly I failed completely as a parent and have to accept that he hates me and nothing I ever do will change that!

Winter Hern WIP 5

The Holly is going to make me even more crazy than I am, but I am still working on it. Slowly but surely I hope!

Future of My Art

Alright, I am 61, I do not have a lot more time on thsi planet so IF I can get myself to liv without much income (not that I have much now), I will stop taking commissions and after the ones I alreayd have to finish, I will work strickly on art I want to do! I will most likely do a lot of male nudes and not stuffthat will sell well or go to convebntions. But if I am ever going to paint even a tiny bit of those things I have wanted to paint for years, I am going to have to start soon and just DO it!

And More Holly

So I noticed that the left arm was to short and so I had to try and fix it. I hope it will be unnoticeable once I finish everything. Also the holly wreath keeps growing...and this is the easy part. "Winter Hern WIP 3".

New Japanese

I have stuff I am supposed to be doing but I know my muse, and if I have an inspiration and do not go with it I will never be able to work on anything else. I bought a very cool Japanese style frame and was inspired to do art to go in it. This is what I came up with; "Tale of the Ketsune", 9 x 17, Acrylic, Micron pen, ProWhite and watercolor colored pencil on Canson board. Original SOLD, prints available. Picture 58.

If you wish to purchase one send $15 + shipping to paypal@greywolf.name If I get your order before the end of Nov. you should get it in time for Christmas.

Finally A Laurel Scroll

OMG, I just got the replacement for my Laurel scroll (which was not right) and it is AMAZING! I will post a picture of it soon. Unfortunatly it got a bit damaged between England and here and I am trying to make it flat before I attempt repairs. Rick Williams (I don't remmber his SCA name but and trying to get it) did it as a gift and I could not be more pleased with it!
OK, I had to take a picture and share, I love it so much. Based on a Fresco (by Mantegna from The Camera degli Sposi).

Creative Grandson

I am not supposed to call him my grandson, but he is my son's son so he IS my grandson. And he is a lot like his dad and me...apparently his mother bought him a Halloween costume but he decided to make his own. Here is what he came up with. :)

Inktober 10, Gryffon Again

I was commissioned at Pennsic to do a rampant Gryffon to be used on banners and such. It will be colored when finished but they wanted a line drawing first. This is the second version and I think way better than the first one I did. I am using it as an Inktober picture because, well it is a drawing in ink. "Rampant Gryffon", 9 x 12, Micron pen on Bristol. Picture 44.

Inktober 9

India ink is giving me some ideas and letting me play with larger black areas more quickly than markers. I may revisit this idea someday as I like the concept and while I am ok with this picture, I think I could do better with the idea. Inktober 9, "Black Stag", 8 x 11, India ink and white gel pen on matt board. Original and prints available. Picture 43.

Alien Inktober 8

Always loved Gigger's Alien and found a great reference to work from so I did this quick version as my 8th Inktober pic. "Xenomorph", about 9 1/2 x 6 1/2, India ink, wash and white gel pen on Canson board. Original and prints available. picture 42.

I am happy with this one even though it is simple. Done for Inktober, almost caught up. "Raven in Circle", 4 4/5 x 5 1/2, Micron Pen, White Gel pen and Ink wash on Canson board. Original and prints available. Picture 39.

Inktober 4

The last of the Undines this is a Double rose based on a page from the Mira calligraphiae monumenta. This is about 3 1/2 x 5, Acrylic on velum (skin not paper.) Picture 37.

Undines (part 1)

In the SCA, in the Kingdom of Atlantia, the Queen can give her personal token of gratitude to those who have served her during her reign. This award is called the Undine. I am doing a ton of these for our current Queen. These are the first 2 without words...I will be adding calligraphy soon.
"Rose bud and butterfly" inspired by the Mira Calligraphiae Monumneta, Folio 11, Viena, 1560's.
"Dafoodil" inspired by the Hours of the conception of the Virgin, Hours of Louis XII, Folio 370, French, 1500's. Picture 29 and 30.

Old Gods

Another of my "Gods of Atlantis" series I did back in the 80's. "Bringer of Storms" Acrylic and watercolor colored pencil on Canson board, 7 x 11 or so. I love the piece but it never sold. I guess the Gods of Atlantis were just to personal to me. (I said the same about the other 2 Gods of Atlantis I did.) Prints available.

False Patriots Day

OK, I have never heard it called "Patriots Day" untill now, but I will never use that term as Patriot has become a worthless dirty word just like the flag. After 9/11 a bunch of so called "patriots" started flying the flag to show just how American they were. They flew it dirty, they flew it tatered, they flew it at night in the dark, they flew it like gang colors and NOT with any respect! None of them seemed to understand the flag code that I have known since I was a child; ...you NEVER let teh flag touchthe ground or get dirty! You Never fly a tattered flag! You always have a light on a flag if it is flying at night! These same people want to make burning the flag illegal compleatly ignoring the fact that burning is the proper, perscribed way to dispose of a flag that is; dirty, torn, faded! But these false patriots who will make a big fuss on 9/11 and fly the flag from the back of their pick up trucks with a confederate flag next to it (or just a sticker of one in the window), who will drag the flag through the dirty and fly it when it is falling apart. These people who are hapy that Trump is destroying EVERYTHING good about this country and who think America is only for WHITE Christians, THESE are the peopel who will make a big deal out of "Pariots Day" and who will claim to be doing it to remember those who died on 9/11 when really all they are doing is trying to stir up hate for theose who are diffrent from them and who have a diffrent religion! These peopel are wht both the word patriot and the flag are now meaningless at best and dirty words at worst!

Book of Love Pelican

Pelican scroll inspired by pages from King Rene’s Book of Love, specifically Folio 18v and Folio 21v, 15th century, France. Illumination by Master Tristan Alexander, calligraphy by Lady Failenn Chu Inghean Fhaelain .  I think it was 9 x 12, Acrylic, Egg Tempera and Gold leaf on Parchemnt (the skin not the paper). Pitcure 28
(Dame Bell Phoebe while traveling with her page and her Laurel Knight approaches a bridge where she sees a tree full of her accomplishments and then a Pelican Knight appears to join her company!)

Beautiful Tiny Satyr

I just received a small statue I purchased from the sculptor  Stephen Blanche who lives in England. I saw it when it was only just started and he has done so much tiny and amazing details including the quiver with several tiny individual arrows in it! He is 6 inches tall and just AMAZING!
