Insanity Reigns Supreme

Not just a good motto, but how I feel sometimes. I am continuing the Hern picture and spending hours and hours more on a picture that I know will not be liked by the person I had hope would want it and I am also sure it will end up as just another useless unwanted picture hanging in my house with no reason to be! I have so many unsold pictures as it is that I should stop painting...but Insanity Reigns Supreme, so I paint on! Here is the Hern picture as it was a few hours ago...

Should I Give Up?

OK, I love the face but I fear I messed up the body...so, should I finish this or just scrap it now?

Who Needs Sleep?

SO, I have gotten about 2 hours sleep and am up and awake and I guess I will post an update on the art. "Hern (Lord of the Spiral...or Spiral Path...or something else entirely)", about the top 1/3rd, colored, but not done. There will be a ring/wreath of Oak leaves around him and a landscape background inside the ring. By the way, I LOVE how his face looks now...if I can just get the body and background to be as good for me, it will be great!

Here We Go Again

I have lots that needs done, I have deadlines, and so what am I working on? Something else completely of course. Several years ago an artist friend whose work is amazing and who is much more successful than I, admired one of my pictures and commented that she should commission me to do a Hern picture for her sometime. SO...I did one, I liked it, but it did not strikee her fancy and it eventually sold to someone else. So now she posts a picture of one of the actors from the "True Blood" series and I say "maybe I should do a Hern based on him?" She likes the idea, so I am doing jut that...It is taking way more time than I should spend on it and I alternately love and hate how it is coming out. So here is a small section of it (the top 3rd), in a very early stage. Hern, Lord of the Spiral" WIP.

Two In One

The two pics done for the Nekomage contest seen together! Since he said the Dragon aspects of his character are hidden or invisible, I figured the first picture is how his character looks outwardly to most, but how he really looks is the second picture.

New Pennsic Calendars are here

Well once again I have done a Pennsic to Pennsic (Aug. to Aug.) calendar and once again I had them printed through Endeavor Printing http://www.endeavorprinting.com/ . I can not believe how FAST they printed them this year and the quality is great as usual!! So if you are an artist and want a book of your art or a calendar of your art printed, I can NOT recommend these people highly enough!!

I Print a limited number of these and they sell out most every year. They are $20 each, so if you want one you should get it ASAP!

Second Done First

OK, here is the finished second picture for the FA contest mentioned in my last two posts. I love the Dragon/Tiger hybrid idea and the overall finished picture looks good to me. We will see what  Nekomage who is holding the contest and who owns the character thinks of this version! "Dragon Tiger Hybrid, Nekomage", 8 1/2 x 11, Acrylic, watercolor colored pencil, Pro White and a time bit of Prisma Color on Canson board. Prints available. Picture 42.

More Contest Art

Here is the second part of the FA (http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/3546814/) contest picture I am working on...what, you say this doesn't look much like the one I posted yesterday? Well it is the same character...ok, a different aspect of him and a second picture I am doing for this silly contest! I like the character and thought it would be fun to do these, I hope I can finish them both soon and get back to other art. This is not done yet (as I hope you can tell), but I wanted to post something, so here is the second entry WIP, 8 1/2 x 11 Acrylic on Canson board.

Tiger Contest

So, this will change alot as it is in an intermediate stage right now. All the basic shading and markings are done but then I painted a white was over it all (since he is a white tiger). I will go in and darken the stripes and add brighter highlights etc. next. Oh, and of course a background...This is my first entry for a contest being held by someone on FA. 8 1/2 x 11 Acrylic on Canson board.
