TTG Cover Progress

As I am redoing the cover for Sally Fink's "Ten Thousand Gods" so all her book covers will have been done by me, here is an update...mostly just background and fine detail work to do after this.

Pasta Boycott

http://www.nbcnews.com/business/barilla-pasta-barons-anti-gay-comment-prompts-boycott-call-8C11269315 Personaly, he is right, people can do what they want, and saying stupid things like "gays can eat some other pasta" should make him lose money because there is NO reason to say such a thing unless you are a bigot! And bigots should not be allowed to do what they want without consequences!

Off Again

Next book cover started. Lots and lots of work yet to do and much details to be worked out, but so far I think it is going well. This is the first black and white study WIP for it...just the face and animal head done but that is the main thing, then onto the clothing/figure work.

New Personal Demon

I have learned that if I don't let my muse play when he wants, I can't get anything done that I need to do! SO, here is a fun, just cause it hit me picture done to fit in one of the more interesting frames I have. This is octagonal (the black corners are filler). "Demon Dance" (working title any better ideas will be considered) it is 8 1/2 x 15, Acrylic and Pro White on Canson board. Original and prints for sale. Picture 30.

I am at least getting something done today...here is the grey scale/ Black and white step for the Bronco picture. 8 1/2 x 11 Acrylic on Canson board.

Pushing Forward

Since I owe people art as well as have commissions waiting I am trying to push on and get started on something already paid for and overdue. Part of the "Fight" pictures series, this is a non fighting picture of the main character Bronco showering. First rough sketch to be OKed by the client before I go any further.

Update with changes asked for by client.

Fall Weather, Fall Sinus Issues

I am not a fan of cool or cold weather and it has gotten quite cool here. It is very Fall like and my sinus issues that come with the first few weeks of Fall have hit! I have not been able to get much art done due to the pain and sluggishness this causes! So much to do and just not getting anything done!

Other Bday Gifts

I finally took pictures of the bed with the sheets and pillows my husband made for me for my birthday! They have a lovely white on white pattern, very tiny and it looks so good on the bed. There is a filled and flat sheet and two pillows and pillow cases. This is all miniature, for my BJDs. I made the bed (I think it is posted elsewhere on this Weble).

Earliest Male/Male Couple Picture Known

(Normally I don't do this, but I found this on another site and found it fascinating!) This Egyptian rock painting was found inside the tomb of Khnumhotep and Niankhkhnum, and dates to some time around 2400 BCE. It depicts the two men holding hands, surrounded by their children - the traditional pose of a married couple. It may well be the oldest piece of art shown depicting a male-male relationship. According to Wikipedia, “the men’s chosen names (both theophorics to the creator-god Khnum) form a linguistic reference to their closeness: Niankhkhnum means “joined to life” and Khnumhotep means “joined to the blessed state of the dead’”, and together the names can be translated as “joined in life and joined in death.” And just as a kicker: the two both held the title of Overseer of the Manicurists in the Palace of King Niuserre.

Parti Colored Coronet

I was commissioned by my friend Mistress BelAnna de Rouge de Anjou to do a coronet for her as well as her Arms (seen earlier on this Weble). Since her charge is a Fleur de lis that is parti colored (or split into green and gold in this case) we decided to do the Fleur's on her coronet the same way! I think it is very spiffy and unique! 32 1/2 inches around, leather, wood and Acrylic jewels, Acrylic paint. 28

Anybody Out There?

I have not gotten any comments for a while and just wonder if everyone is so busy on Facebook and Twitter that they no longer even look at Webles/Blogs? It would be nice since I am off of Facebook and will NEVER do Twitter if some of you would comment here occasionally!

Day After Gift

My grandson's grandmother sent me two pictures of him in the knight outfit I got him for Christmas last year! It made my day! It is a bit blurry but any picture of him makes me smile!!

Birthday Gifts

Well, today is my birthday and I have a couple of gifts from Don (they were a bit early). One is a new BJD, he has no name yet and he has proven to be a bit of a lesson. When I found him online for a good price and asked for him for my Birthday, I had never heard of recast dolls. Recast dolls are basically unauthorised copies. If I had realised this I would never have asked for this one. It has many "issues" as well as basically being a rip off of the original doll, so NOT something I as an artists would ever be part of! I may have to order the real doll from the real company at some point to make up for it! DO NOT buy recast dolls!! Anyway, he still has no name (he showed up fast and I got him actually a few days before my Birthday)any name ideas are welcome. I have considered naming him Kaichu (and calling him Kai), that is Japanese for recast. Still working on his hair. My other gifts so far is a set of sheets (fitted and regular) as well as two bed pillows made by my hubby for the bed I made for the dolls! They look great and I will take pictures sometime.

Heraldic Commission

A friend asked me to do her Arms, so here is the full accomplichment of Arms for Mistress BelAnna de Rouge de Anjou. This is 8 1/2 x 11, Acrylic and gold leaf on velum (the skin not the paper). Gold leaf does not scan well and the white pops alot more in real life because the velum is much yellower than in this scan. Picture 27.

William AoA Scroll Finished

Well, the Illumination part is finished. This is based on a page from the Master of the Riccardiana Lactantius, leaf from a Benedictine antiphonary with the Trinity in an Initial G. Florence second half of the 15th century. The miniature is inspired by the Biblioteca Medicea-Laurenziana, Plut.42.19, Brunetto Latino, Il Tesoro, fol. 72. I changed the figure to look a bit more like William and added period glasses and the astrolabe. * 1/2 x 11 Egg Tempera, Pro White, Gold leaf and Micron marker on velum. Picture 26.

New Scroll Update

Damp weather and frustration with doing the gold leafing has made me decide to do the color work on this before finishing the leafing. It is almost done except the blank areas being leafed and the miniature getting details. Calligraphy will be added once it is finished.
