Instead of working on stuff that might sell and make me money I am doing yet another Peerage scroll for the SCA. I was asked to do this and since the person who it is for gifted me with something very spiffy once, I felt I should do it. The Sforza Hours is one of my all time fav books to work from so that is what this is inspired by. This is on real parchment (animal skin) and is 9 x 12.

SCA Scroll Update
Well the illumination part is finished, someone else will be doing the calligraphy so I will show the detail of the main Illuminations here and will show the completed scroll after it has been given. Again if you think you know who this is for KEEP it to yourself as it needs to stay a surprise!
I am a Failure
I am such a failure, my son doesn't trust me, I can't do anything right, no one wants my art and I am useless as a person!

SCA Scroll
This is a somewhat secret project, so if by some strange chance someone who knows who this might be for sees it here, please do NOT say anything to anyone about who you think it might be for! Awards are mostly done as a surprise and to have the person know they are getting it ruins that. But I wanted to post this WIP of what I am doing along with several other projects I am trying to do at the same time. This is on real parchment (animal skin) and is 11 x 17 overall, this detail is 7 x 7 roughly. The center area looks fuzzy because of the flash.

Experiment
I need to do a scroll for the SCA, normally that would be no big deal. I love working on velum (animal skin) and have some that is smooth and wonderful to work on. But when I went to get some for this scroll I could not find it. I did however find 2 nice size pieces of parchment (a less fine animal skin than velum). Having not really worked on parchment before I was unsure of how to prepare it if it was not already prepared fro use. So I took a small scrap and did this. I tried Calligraphy and painting on it (should have done real gilding but used paint instead). I based this on some medieval illumination with my own twists. "Atlantis", about 3 x 4, Acrylic, Micron pen, metallic paint and ink on parchment. Original SOLD. Prints available. Picture 9.

Meanwhile....
I am continuing the commission I started last year and still have not finished. I do really hope by the end of the week to be done or close to done.
