Well, once again I have turned off facebook and am considering never turning it back on. Even though it is my main source of interaction with other humans most of the time. But when someone I consider a friend once again tells me I am just looking for sympathy when I post what I am thinking and feeling, or another tells me he knows better than me what I REAL think or mean when I say something and it isn't what I say I am thinking or what I mean, well, I guess I best just not post anything!
I am constantly amazed at how everyone else in the world can post the most whinny, manipulative posts looking for sympathy and people to tell them how great they are and how much they are liked BUT I am not allowed to post anything without my friends telling me I am full of crap and don't know my own mind or feelings. Well it sure makes me feel good to know I have such friends!

You are entitled to tell people to shut the f**k up too. I do it all the time but I disguise it in neutral language like "Thank you for your concern," or "I don't think I agree with you." What matters to me is why you are so easily taken in by these heedless people. As I said before, stop taking the bait. And if someone offends you too much, just push the "unfriend" button. I've done it a number of times and I don't regret it. If you don't like what I say, then you could dump me too but I enjoy your visits and comments. :-)
ReplyDeleteIf it was just some bozo I would do that no problem. But it is someone I care about and who has been a good friend for a long time. I guess I should learn that he no longer considers me a friend, but it is hard for me to give up on someone I care about!
ReplyDeleteTristan, friendships change and people do too. I know it's hard to conceive of it but it's time to move on. And always keep making art, that's the most important thing. As for the head of the figure I've had that problem a number of times. You're in good company...many people have said that the head of Michelangelo's "David" is too big. And you can't just switch his head out. I've tried erasers and overpainting but I'm spoiled by Photoshop which can excerpt an image and re-proportion it with a few clicks.
ReplyDeleteI have a hard time letting go of something just because there are problems. As for the proportions on my picture, I look at the photo of it on the screen and it looks fine, it is just in real life it looks like his head may be to large. But proportionately it really is not so I guess I will just continue on and finish it.
