Walk in the Parkes

The artists Michael Parkes does amazing surrealistic works that have inspired me for years. I have done a couple pictures that were heavily influenced by his work. "Baron's Folly" was one of my first and can be found elsewhere on this weble (I think). This new picture is the latest attempt by me to do something similar to his work. Also, it screams for a story...anyone want to write it? "When the Rose Bleeds", 10 x 12, Acrylic and watercolor colored pencil on Canson board. Original and prints for sale. Picture 29.

  1. Pyra, are you complaining about my placement of the cat?

  2. I love this picture espically because The rose is my favorite flower. I use to grow them till we had a bad winter and kill off all my rose bushes.

  3. Tristan: Uh, yes. I think maybe you could have placed the cat a bit higher and more separate from the boy's body, like maybe where that greenish streamer is behind him.

  4. Pyra, well, the placement is to keep the flow of the picture and the negative space the way I wanted it.
