Young but Old

Well, since I want to keep posting stuff and have not done anything new to post in a while, I have to post older stuff. This is one of my pictures that came back after living with others for a while. It has happened a few time that people buy my art, something happens (like they die or something) and the art finds it's way back to me. I adore this picture because it is simple, elegant and just pleasing to my eyes. It is small about 5 x 8 or so, Acrylic, watercolor colored pencil and Prisma Color on Canson board.

  1. That is a nice one, though it's tiny. I always like the way you blur the background as if it were a photograph. I also like the dappled light.
I wonder though about the faunlet's right arm, which seems to be slightly larger than the proportions would require...partly hidden so perhaps I am not seeing something.

  2. Pyra, I think it is just a function of where the arm is on the page and how it is cut off at the edge. I hope that is the case as I am very happy with the finished picture and would hate to think I screwed it up somehow.

  3. I like the soft look of the background. I don't know if you intended it, but it looks like fireflies in the brush behind him. (Fireflies being one of my favorite bugs. :) I know ... I always comment on the backgrounds, but that was the first thing to jump out at me.
