Halloween is Coming!

One of my all time favorite holidays is Halloween! It was more so when I was doing a Haunted House with my friend Jon Westcot. Those were some of the best months of Halloween I ever had and I would LOVE to have that again. Anyway, my love of Vampyres, Halloween and children combined to make art such as this. It was done for my book "NightChild" and was black and white originally but here is the colored version (which I love). I used to own a Kimono made of material much like what the boy is laying on. While he does not look like my son, he still reminds me of Joey. "Bat Nap" black and white printed on Goldenrod card stock and painted with Acrylic, 8 1/2 x 11.

  1. Can he fly with those little wings? Or do they only become functional when he gets older, bigger, and stronger? That's the trouble with me, I think too practically of the engineering of fantasy creatures. I remember that batwing kimono, too.

  3. Oh, I would love an orange kimono covered in little bats! He's adorable. :)

Bobby and I were eagerly perusing the Halloween section at Michael's the other day, though we're going to miss Party City. Halloween is my favorite holiday too; I envy you that haunted house ... and that kimono! :)

You KNOW that Hallowe'en is my favorite time of the year! And it's simply impossible for me to enter the month of October and not dwell on the Haunted Houses we did in college. There is a part of me that will always want to do another Haunted House, but now, with everything stacked against me, I don't know how it could possibly be pulled off. It would take a year of prep work... but it would be SO worth it!

Maybe, in honor of our past work, you'll consider posting the amazing artwork you did for the T-shirts I had printed. I'd love for others to get to see it again.

    Jon
