The Shield

This is a real wooden shield, I was commissioned to do this by a friend (who is also like a son). I designed the heraldry and painted this for him. It is on curved wood, approx. 25 x 32, blue and silver latex paint. He is currently working to get this registered as his device in the SCA. Picture 34 done in 2009.

  1. Wow, that's lovely! I hope his device passes ... if not, he'll just have to use it for loveliness alone. :)

I think it works beautifully with the two colors. I could not do that. Well, maybe in Photoshop ... probably not even there!

On a completely unrelated note, I'm looking forward to practice tonight. Yay! :)

  4. now some comments on the shield. I really like the detail in it. and the "braid" in the middle of the head is a neat detail. and i can still see some of the translucence in the blue on the silver. dealing with some of those issues myself so i am doing what i can to fix that by changing my original plan of using blue for a background on the one piece to black.

  5. I LOVE IT I LOVE IT I LOVE IT. And I loved dinner with you two! I'm so sad I don't live closer, and that I can't make it to Pennsic but I love the shield, a lot!
