I did this as a line drawing and then hand colored prints of it. This was printed on a light blue card stock. The circle behind the Hypocampus was blank in the drawing and I could put whatever I wanted in it when I painted the prints. This one was filled with the inside of a wave, based on a great photo I have. The Hypocampus itself is based on a couple different actual carousel horses.
